Prior:
Before the invasion of the Spanish, the Aztecs were rivaling the Egyptians with their ways of life. Both were highly intelligent and both more hygienic than all the Europeans and yet the Aztecs crumpled however Egyptians thrived longer.
One of the main reason Aztecs fell was due to the fact that they killed thousands of people each year for their religion, making them many enemies even within their tribe.
Apart from this they lead rather simple lives all working to do their part for their community. This included living in simplex houses, often with just a thick layer of straw above their heads.
The Aztecs had a varied healthy lifestyle, filled with home-grown crops such as corn and cocoa beans. As they had such a healthy lifestyle, diseases were not common and therefore they were definitely not immune to Spanish diseases.
They had no experience with weapons that the Spanish were using, they often just used spears and arrows to attack their enemies.
Even, their clothing was simplistic - just a thin layer of cotton made by the girls or women in the Family, no silk or expensive luxuries that the Spanish had grown accustomed to.
Religion was at the center of their whole lives and was completely different to what the Spanish believed in. Christianity was a parallel universe and had no similarities whatsoever.
The Aztecs had a very structured life, full of complete laws, a holy religion, varied means of communication, a healthy lifestyle, minimal diseases and planned attacks on enemies.
The Aztecs had no idea what would be coming in the near feature.

Now:
After the invasion the Aztec empire was knocked down and completely changed into Christian religious grounds. The Spanish built above all the temples which rivaled the Egyptians. They built churches and used European architecture all throughout only leaving remnants of structures.
The remaining Aztecs were forced into slavery, harvesting silver for the Spanish in brutal working conditions. They worked long hours and caught many diseases from not being immune to them. Diseases included smallpox and were caught from consuming food and drink that they were not used
Even though the Spanish came for gold they found silver in most abundance which was very valuable in Asia more so than gold. The Spanish were now able to buy spices and silks from Asia and start a trade with many Europeans wanting to have some Asian luxuries.
It was also very different for the Aztecs as they were now experiencing weaponry and lethal tools and things like mercury (used to harvest the silver more efficiently) causing many of them to die from the harmful chemical.
Many Aztecs died in the invasion from all these diseases like smallpox which killed thousands brought from the Spanish. Even though the Aztecs had greater numbers the Spanish knew they had many enemies and they had weapons the Aztecs had never seen using this to their advantage.
The Aztec Emperor had a vision that the Spanish would be invaded by a bearded God, and they were.
